If you neglect to care for your baby’s teeth at the very beginning of the emergence of the teeth then your baby will definitely become the victim of tooth decay. The effects of tooth decay is quite dangerous:

Here are few tips that can help you to take care of your baby’s gum and teeth as well:
1. You should not put the bottle of milk or any kind of fluid which your baby takes as food when your baby sleeps.
2. You can wipe the baby’s gum at least once a day by rubbing it very gently with a soft clean cotton cloth. You may start doing this even before your baby’s teeth appear for the first time.
3. Most babies’ teeth probably appear between the age six and eight months. But in some exceptional cases babies show their teeth as early as 4 or 5 months of their age. So, when you see that your baby’s teeth is emerging, you need to purchase a soft tiny, baby-sized toothbrush for the baby to clean its gum as well as teeth every day.
4. You may also use clean cold water to wash your baby’s teeth. Use this water while you brush its teeth. You should keep in mind that you can’t use toothpaste until the baby is around at least three years old because your baby should have the enough ability to spit out the foam of toothpaste after brushing.
5. But the non fluoride toothpaste can help to solve this problem if you want a proper cleaning regarding your baby’s gums and teeth. A little fluoride not only helps you to wash your baby’s teeth but also support the growth of the teeth. This mineral can protect the teeth from decay as it strengthen the tooth enamel to make it more resistant that can enable it to fight with different harmful bacterias as well as acids.
Don’t forget to provide fluoride in the drinking water or as an addendum in the form of tablets or drops which may be with or without vitamins. You can also ask help from a dentist. You should start to give your baby the topical fluoride at the age of two.
